Belly dancing began many centuries ago as a prayer of fertility for the desiccation. LOL ... NO! keep your zumba! Thanks for this blog. I really thought it was right here, down here. Interesting to read ... I always ask myself why I always dance at 52 years old. This is definitely not to be done. It always comes down to the fun and the pleasure of learning a discipline dance of which I had no previous experience. Cultural appropriation is something that holds more curiosity than passion for me ... maybe it's a generational preoccupation.
